Hi Hannah!
I'm working on a communication twesis (love that!) looking at gender differences and self-disclosure. I would love to hear more about your research. What tool(s) are you using for data capture? You may follow me on Twitter @SCourt

There is also more to Social Media then just Twitter. Twitter is one of them, but the total picture of Social Media is much, much wider.
This can be seen here: http://www.tuttel.com/betutteld/2009/hoe-groot-is-de-impact-van-social-media/

Check your English. Some sentences are a bit shaky.
Also, why not unveil the identity of @vincente and @2525 being Vincent Evers ans Francisco van Jole. Both of them long time acknowledged techwatchers. They are becoming past tense so they jump on a thing like Twitter and because of being 'famous' they are asked about it. But they don't research properly and just pose all kinds of things unproven. They are asked as experts and give opinions on Twitter which they package as statements of facts. This is about expert credibility.

creating a profile of a certain user is exactly what Sophie Calle did, back in 1983 when she decided to contact some people in an address book she found;

"In June 1983, I found an address book. I photocopied the contents then sent it back anonymously to its owner, whose address was written on the endpaper. Since Libération had asked me to do an instalment piece for publication in the newspaper that same summer, I decided to contact some of the people whose names appeared in the book and ask them to tell me about the owner. Through them, I would get to know this man. I would try to find out who he was without ever meeting him and produce a portrait of him, over an uncertain period of time, which would depend on the willingness of his friends to talk and the turn taken by events."

have you had (secondhand) experience in the destruction of friendships due to Twitter complications? obviously, misinterpretation or miscommunication in general can lead to serious trouble between friends, but Twitter doesn't have a specific place or method in that, does it? you just got me wondering, cos the notion of destroyed friendships seemed to come up quite suddenly in this post :)

Some Twitter clients (like DestroyTwitter) have conversations. When you click on a button or arrow you can see what people replied to. Suddenly tweets make a lot more sense. Example: http://localhostr.com/files/6ffb48/destroytwitter.png I don't know if this feature is available on the twitter.com site itself but it sure would be useful.
