Hannah online
During the past few years I subscribed myself to a number of social network sites and wiki’s and it’s about time to put all those links together. The overview is not just for myself but also for people with an interest in what I do online. I started on sites like Orkut and Tribe which have old information about me with old domains I no longer have. Later all my fellow students attended Hyves so I joined them, then followed MySpace and Facebook where I’m the most active now. Then there are other sites with music or photo’s or video’s and friends like Last.fm, Flickr, YouTube and LinkedIn. Lately I joined Twitter and I write my master thesis on that and I should not forget Del.icio.us, Twine, CouchSurfing and 1%Club. The question on all sites is, what do I show of myself to the world? What do I hide? What privacy settings should I use? In what ways I submit myself to surveillance?
Art sites & Blogs
Besides these social networksI did some small things on the Dutch and English Wikipedia and there are a few art sites like Exto, ArtOlive, Galeries.nl and Seesle where I have a page. With my blogs I get confused sometimes because I have too many now. I have a main blog on my domain, then there are a few here on WordPress like this one and two art blogs BarcodeArt, Poppenporno and CoffeeHaiku. Sometimes I post things on Livejournal and Hyves too and it overlaps with the main blog. In March 2009 I registered on the microblogs Plurk, The Twit Army and on Scripting.com.
As if I didn’t have enough profiles online I created some more. Because it’s for my research I have an excuse to do so. Some friends and followers send me tips of websites who do something with Twitter. To see how popular a user is, there’s the site Twitter Grader. I have no idea if this is good or not but it’s a funny feature. Another feature that can be interesting is the Dutch Twitterborrel, here users can meet online first and organize meetings in real life. A simple tool to see how much time I spent on Twitter (just tweeting, not reading) is Tweetwasters. Then to check my rank I used Twitterank but I’m not sure of the use. Another ranking site is the Shorty Awards, here users can be nominated by other users so me and some friends nominated each other. Not about ranking but about followers is Twitterless, although the function with which to check who stopped following me is not working for me. What I like and saves some time to check is My First Tweet. On Disqus you can find some comments I made on other blogs.
I check my RSS feed on the keyword poken on Twitter and made a profile on Poken020meetup and Twitterazzi so I can finally use my Poken again! And I forgot to mention Blip.fm which is like Last.fm where I can add music, listen to it, make playlists and share and tweet. Then I created a Wordle which creates a profile when a user adds the Wordle to the gallery.
